Hello,
Have you ever felt overwhelmed? On edge? In recent weeks, several events have pushed me to the limits of my patience and self-control. Emotions are an important lever that can both give us valuable information and disrupt our discernment and ability to remain fair and upright. It’s good to listen to your emotions, but never to let them overwhelm you to the point of giving them total control. Steven Covey once said: “I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions”. Emotions are our body’s response to the environment around us. Decisions, on the other hand, are the result of inner reflection and choice. In order to maintain excellent emotional stability, we need to pay more attention to our decisions than to our emotions. This will enable us to avoid being dominated by our sensitive, unstable soul, and leave room for the mind to develop a rock-solid stability and anchorage. Emotions, however strong, can be dominated, and here are a few keys to help you stay grounded in the storm: 1. Get some rest: the first thing to do in the midst of the storm is to rest. While we’d all be caught up in the hustle and bustle of the many things we have to do, we simply have to sleep in the boat. 2. Always remember that the storm eventually calms down: things and torments don’t go against time. All things eventually subside and cease. So your role is not to try to stop things, but to stand firm and stay calm during the storm. 3. Stay the course! Often, when we’re going through a trial, we tend to let go of what’s ours, and come to think that it’s all over, that it’s all over, that we’ll never get back what we’ve lost. And it’s true – you won’t get what you’ve lost, you’ll get more and better. By staying the course and acting on the promises and vision you had and still have, you’ll only be lifted higher. Even if certain emergency decisions are necessary, always make sure that they are taken in accordance with your vision and not for motivations stemming from the present situation. 4. keep your heart: easy to say, isn’t it? I’ll grant you: not easy! But this is where great powers come into play. How do you do it? “Guard your heart more than anything else, for from it come the springs of life. Beware of speaking out of turn: reject perverse speech. Look well in front of you, and let your gaze be straight ahead. Observe well the path you are on, and take safe roads. Turn neither to the right nor to the left; turn away your foot from evil.” Proverbs 4.22-27. 5. Keep moving! When you’re walking on shaky ground, the only way out is to keep moving.

We’re all tempted to stop, take stock and let go, because we can’t take it anymore, we don’t feel capable of anything. What we have seems bland and complicated, and we long for other things that make us feel better. I’m going to tell you something a little bluntly: “Who cares what you want in this period? The most important thing is what you need. Emotions are at their highest in these times and you’re not capable of knowing what’s really good for you. Everything will be geared towards one thing: getting out of this situation! “Stopping on shaky ground is the best way to sink, so look ahead and move on! The storm is difficult, yes! It’s powerful, yes! But I can tell you with confidence that you’re far more powerful and resilient than any storm. The most important thing during the storm is your attitude. Your attitude determines your altitude afterwards! You are more enduring and persevering than any storm, review your motivations, examine them and remember that love is the most powerful of motivations. Love banishes fear, love perseveres, is not envious, endures and endures all. When the limit is reached, remember that our peace and joy are the two most important levers for keeping our hearts. The best is not ahead, the best is now, seize it! In our next Newsletter, we’ll take a break from this series to look at how to keep our hearts, and then continue the series by looking together at how to discern and avoid emotional manipulation.
